Dr. Fadi Mirza received his medical doctor degree from the American University of Beirut before he relocated to the United States. He completed a four-year residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Tufts University in Boston. Following his residency, he pursued a three-year fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Columbia University in New York. Upon completion of his training, Dr. Mirza joined the faculty of Columbia University, where he was active in inpatient care, education, and research. In 2012, he joined the faculty of the American University of Beirut, yet he continues to hold an adjunct faculty appointment at Columbia University. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Certified in Maternal-Fetal Medicine, and a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He has presented countless scientific abstracts and has published numerous peer-reviewed articles. He serves as a Principal Investigator for a number of research studies with funding that has exceeded USD 100,000.
Dr. Mirza is active in inpatient care at the American University of Beirut Medical Center, where his practice focuses on General Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as Maternal-Fetal Medicine (high-risk obstetrics). He is also an Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the American University of Beirut, where he teaches medical students and residents, and practices at its medical center. He also assumes the position of Director of the Obstetrics and Gynecology residency training program. He also serves as the member of the Faculty of Medicine Admissions Committee and serves on the thesis committee of a number of graduate students. At an administrative level, he holds a number of senior positions; most notably, he serves as the Director of the Clinical Practice Improvement Program of the medical center and as Co-Chairperson of its Patient Safety Council. He is also the Chairperson of the hospital’s Credentialing and Privileging Committee.
Dr. Mirza currently serves as a member of the managing board of the Lebanese Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology (LSOG) and Chairman of its Scientific Committee. Additionally, he serves as the Co-Chairman of the Scientific Committee of the Federation of Arab Gynecology and Obstetrics Societies (FAGOS). Dr. Mirza also serves as an expert/investigator for the Maternal Mortality Committee of the Ministry of Public Health and is a member of the faculty of University Saint Joseph (USJ), where he contributes to the ultrasound teaching of their medical students, residents, and midwives. In 2018, he was elected to the Board of Trustees of the Makassed Philanthropic Islamic Association of Beirut.
Dr. Mirza has been an invited speaker, Course Director, and Congress Chairperson at numerous national, regional, and international conferences that have been held in Lebanon and different parts of the world, including Bahrain, China, Egypt, France, Iraq, Italy, India, Jordan, Kenya, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Morocco, Oman, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Russia, Switzerland, Tunisia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, and Vietnam. He is the recipient of many awards, including the Berlex Best Teaching Resident Award, Outstanding Chief Resident Award and the prestigious Award of Research Excellence of the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine. Given his international recognition, he has been invited to serve on a number of local, national, and international committees, including the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO)’s intrapartum fetal monitoring consensus panel.
